npp mps want ken ofori atta and deputy sacked

In an interesting turn of events, members from the same faction (NPP) have petitioned their President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to dismiss the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and his deputy, Adu Boahen.

These members have threatened not to do business with the government nor support the 2023 Budget if the president doesn’t heed to their demands.

We have had occasions to defend allegations of conflicts of interest, lack of confidence, and trust against the leadership of the Finance Ministry. The MPs made this announcement Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Spokesperson for the MPs, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, the Member of Parliament for the Asante-Akim North Constituency, explained that their decision stems from the fact that all efforts made to get the government to heed to their concerns have yielded no results.

The recent development within the economy is of major concern to our caucus and our constituents. We have made our grave concern to our president through the parliamentary leadership and the leadership of the party without any positive response,” Andy Appiah Kubi said.

The Majority MPs are of the view that firing the Finance Minister and his deputy will restore confidence in the Ghanaian economy.

There have been several calls on the President to sack the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta who has been at the center of criticisms with respect to failing fiscal and monetary policies in the country.

The President recently mentioned that sacking Ken Ofori-Atta isn’t something he’s considering because he is the same person that led the country to realize strong economic growth and can do same to restore sanity in the country’s finances.
