Kwabena Boateng, a legal practitioner has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries held in the Ejisu constituencyof the Ashanti Region on April 13 among other candidates including the GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Kwabena Boateng secured a resounding victory, emerging as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the upcoming by-election. Defeating eight other contenders, including former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, Boateng’s triumph signals a significant shift in political dynamics within the constituency.
NPP Primaries Election Details in Which Kwabena Boateng Won
Out of a total of 1033 valid votes cast, Boateng secured 394 votes, cementing his lead over his closest rival, Madam Helena Mensah, who garnered 302 votes. Notably, former GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi lagged behind with only 35 votes, indicating a clear preference among the electorate for Boateng’s candidacy.
Despite initial speculations about potential vote-splitting among the contenders, Boateng’s victory was decisive, with Dr. Evans Duah, one of his main competitors, securing only 63 votes. In his address to the media following his win, Boateng expressed gratitude to the delegates for their trust and confidence in him, emphasizing his commitment to serving the Ejisu constituency and advancing the NPP’s agenda.
