Patricia Asiedua, popular known as nana Agradaa has allegedly scammed her church members.
This follows some of her church members complaining about a financial promise the leader of the church made to them after offering certain amounts of money.
In a circulating Facebook video, one man was seen complaining about being scammed of his capital, according to him he was among an estimated number about 5000 church members who fell victim of this scam and got stranded in town.
It is alleged that the leader of the church promised huge sums of money to be given to anyone who contributed something, the promised amount was to be doubled for the contributor.
The Ghana Police in a Facebook post on Saturday also said that it has commenced investigations into the matter to come to the bottom of the accusation and urged the public to assist in the investigation.
According to Police, the suspect who is the leader of the Heaven Way Church at Weija, committed this money doubling scam against the members of the church.
The Police explained that the disgruntled members of the church grumbled profusely about the situation and thus the decision of the police to delve into the issue and investigate.
“The investigation was initiated following reports that have come to the attention of the Police on the matter. We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building. While investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands” the Police said in a statement released on social media.
Ghanaians have had scores of scam activities by businessmen, spiritual leaders, etc. and yet it seems Ghanaians are yet to learn their first lesson from such deception. Hard earned money of the ‘poor’ seem to be easily extorted from them by ill-intent persons and this must be the right time such barbaric acts stop.
