man climbs high tension pole (pylon), gets electrocuted due to ‘economic hardship’

A young adult believed to be in his 20’s has been electrocuted after climbing a high-tension pylon in Kasoa in the Greater Accra Region.

This incident, according to eyewitnesses, was due to alleged economic hardship and difficulties the young man had been experiencing.

The name of this young man, Kofi Kakra, a bus conductor popularly referred to as driver’s mate, allegedly complained about general economic difficulties and life’s struggles, influencing his decision to embrace death in such a gory manner.

According to eyewitnesses, onlookers tried advising him to talk him out of this dangerous decision to come down but he ignored them and continued his journey leading to his electrocution and ultimate demise.

In a trending video on social media, onlookers and policemen were seen talking to the young man trying to get him to change his mind but these efforts yielded no results.

The young man eventually climbed to an appreciable height and relaxed on the high tension pole and at around 5 pm, the man was seen swinging from one of the poles, few minutes later he got electrocuted and fell from the pole creating fear and shock among the onlookers and viewers.

This incident is quite gory and unfortunate as rescue efforts could not save the young man’s life.

Is it fair to say rescue tactics of our security officials like the police and the firefighters etc. are not effective and more enhanced training is required?
