Ghana has recorded its third case of mpox, with the latest confirmed in the Greater Accra Region leaving many worried over a possible spread.
Dr. Dennis Laryea, Deputy Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service, noted, “The region has done their investigations, and so far, no other cases have been confirmed among contacts.”
Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to hygiene protocols. Public awareness campaigns have been intensified, emphasizing early detection and treatment. “We are working with districts to ensure comprehensive monitoring and containment,” Dr. Laryea added.
The initial two cases were reported in the Western North Region, involving a 15-year-old boy and his mother. Health officials have assured the public that the situation is under control and that all contacts are being closely monitored.
While the infected individuals are reportedly in stable condition, health officials continue to collaborate with local facilities to enhance preparedness. The Ghana Health Service advises anyone experiencing symptoms to seek medical attention promptly.
