Ghana Police Service has launched a decisive response to recent robbery incidents in Akatsi and surrounding communities in the Volta Region.
The Special Operations Assistant (SOA) to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) led targeted intelligence-driven operations, resulting in the arrest of three key suspects and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons. This swift action aims to restore security and dismantle robbery networks plaguing the area, bringing relief to residents affected by the recent wave of attacks.
The operation, conducted on April 21, 2026, zeroed in on hotspots around Gavekope in the Akatsi South District. Suspect Enoch Adoglo was first apprehended in Gavekope, followed by Cephas Aniwaa a local blacksmith suspected of manufacturing and supplying firearms used in the robberies on the outskirts of the community. The third suspect, David Adzinu, was also taken into custody during the coordinated raids. These arrests mark a major breakthrough in addressing the spate of robberies reported in recent weeks.

During searches, police retrieved an impressive arsenal from the suspects, including seven single-barrel rifles, five locally manufactured pistols, one revolver, and various ammunition types such as 64 rounds of ACP, 11 rounds of AK-47, and additional BB cartridges. Other items recovered included three mobile phones and winding tools, believed to be linked to the criminal activities. The operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in combating armed robbery in the Volta Region.
Further investigations have identified Mensah Kedzi as a prime suspect connected to multiple incidents, including the April 3, 2026, robbery at Elshadai Enterprise where victims sustained gunshot injuries. Kedzi remains at large along with other accomplices, and police have urged the public to provide information leading to their capture. This Akatsi robbery crackdown demonstrates the Ghana Police Service commitment to enhancing safety in affected communities.
