The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has assured Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen of his support with prayers and blessings in the pursuit of his presidential ambition.
The former Minister for Trade and Industry revealed his desire to run for presidential slot for the New Patriotic Party for the upcoming general elections leading to his resignation as Minister on Thursday, January 5, 2023 to focus on his presidential ambition.
During his visit to the Manhyia Palace on Monday, the Asantehene Otumfuo Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his unwavering support for the presidential hopeful spiritually and advised Alan to desist from politics of insult in his campaign prior to the general elections and to ensure that his expertise and experience come to play to serve the interest of Ghanaians.
According to Otumfuo, the power of God and the power of the Golden Stool are the impetuses that will aid Alan Kyeremanten of achieving his vision.
I support you with prayers and blessings in the pursuit of your ambition.
To embark on a clean campaign devoid of insults and abusive words against other contestants in the flagbearer race. Otumfuo said
On the party level the King admonished NPP delegates to favour a candidate that has a positive national impression other than a mere party leader.
The presidential hopeful, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten faces a fierce competition from colleagues like the Vice President of the country Dr. Bawumia and MP for the Assin North, Hon. Kennedy Agyepong.
Most Ghanaians opine that the race will be tougher with these candidates as all candidates have what it takes to lead the party, however the main challenge will be the general elections due to the NPP-led government struggles to salvage the ailing economy.
Mr. Alan Kyerematen expressed his gratitude towards Otumfuo with respect to his support and prayers adding that he will always heed to his advice.
I will not disappoint the Manhyia Palace and Ghana as a whole when I get the mandate to lead the party and the nation at large, Mr. Kyerematen remarked.
Mr. Kyeremanten is notably calm and regarded by many as wealthy with much experience in his field. Most people think he has no past experience or has engaged in anything that can mar or dent his image as a presidential candidate.
According to some economists, Dr. Bawumia on the other hand may face rejection from the general public due to the failing economic indicators under his watch as the head of the economic management team who promised to revamp the economy but has failed to achieve that.
Hon. Keneddy Agyepong among others may gain support from some section of the public due to his ‘honest’ attitude as well face challenges in his campaign due to some controversies surrounding him.
