As Ghana’s 2024 elections approach, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are both making their final appeals to voters with simultaneous rallies scheduled for December 5.
The NDC’s rally, themed “Resetting Ghana – Let’s Finish Strong!”, will be held at Zurak Park in Madina, Accra. According to Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s National Communications Officer, the event is a pivotal moment to mobilize their base and energize supporters ahead of the December 7 polls. Gyamfi urged the media to secure accreditation for comprehensive coverage, emphasizing the significance of the event in solidifying the party’s election momentum
Similarly, the NPP plans to wrap up its nationwide campaign with the Possibilities Victory Rally at the UG Sports Directorate Park near the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Henry Nana Boakye, the NPP’s National Organizer, described the event as a “landmark occasion” meant to showcase the party’s achievements under President Nana Akufo-Addo while projecting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision for Ghana’s future. Key party figures, including former President John Agyekum Kufuor and other senior officials, are expected to attend to bolster voter confidence
The concurrent rallies underscore the high stakes of the upcoming elections, as both parties aim to dominate public discourse and secure last-minute voter support. The NPP intends to rebut criticisms while promoting its developmental agenda, whereas the NDC will likely highlight the perceived shortcomings of the current administration and articulate its roadmap for governance. “This simultaneous push by both parties signifies the intensity of competition and the pivotal nature of this election,” remarked a political analyst
These rallies mark the culmination of months of campaigning and are expected to draw nationwide attention. Both parties have framed the events as critical turning points, with live broadcasts planned across major media platforms to engage a broader audience
