President Nana Akufo-Addo has shed light on the overlooked development in Ekumfi, attributing it to the electorate’s decision to vote Francis Ato Cudjoe out of parliament in the 2020 elections.
The president conveyed his dissatisfaction during an interaction with traditional leaders from Ekumfi at the Jubilee House.
Expressing his concern about the voting pattern in the Ekumfi constituency, President Akufo-Addo indicated that Ato Cudjoe’s removal from Ghana’s Parliament influenced his approach to development in the area. Despite elevating Ato Cudjoe to the position of Deputy Minister, the constituents chose a different path during the last elections, which, according to the president, influenced his decision to divert attention from development initiatives in the region.
President Akufo-Addo candidly admitted, “Ato Cudjoe was your MP, and I made him a Deputy Minister, and you voted him out in the last elections, and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area. I have to be honest with you, but since you have brought it up, I will pay attention to it.”
The traditional leaders visited the Jubilee House to appeal for increased development in their community to enhance living standards. Despite the disappointment stemming from the electoral outcome, President Akufo-Addo assured the leaders that he would make a renewed effort to address the development needs of Ekumfi.
