On the morning of Sunday, November 12, 2023, at approximately 7:20 am, certain areas in Accra were unexpectedly shaken by an earth tremor
Lasting only a few seconds, this geological event prompted residents in Weija, a suburb of Accra, to hastily evacuate their homes, creating a wave of panic among the local population
Beyond Weija, reports also emerged from residents in Mallam, Gbawe, SCC, and Bortianor, indicating that these areas too felt the effects of the earth tremor on that Sunday morning. The phenomenon, while brief, left an impact significant enough to cause concern and spur residents to seek safety outdoors.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or damage to property resulting from the tremor. Despite the unsettling experience, the incident seems to have been relatively benign in terms of physical consequences. However, the emotional impact was palpable as numerous individuals took to social media, specifically on page X (formerly Twitter), to share firsthand accounts of their encounter with the unexpected tremor.
As these eyewitness reports circulated online, it became evident that the tremor had resonated through various parts of Accra, creating a shared experience among residents. In the absence of significant damage or injuries, the focus shifted to the community’s collective response and the stories shared on social media platforms, reflecting the interconnected nature of communication in our digital age.
